#12 Robert Michmerhuizen 2012-01-21 06:54 So Sad to read about Steve's passing. I first knew him in the 1960's when we both lived in Grand Haven and Steve worked as a lifeguard at the State Park. Quote

#13 Max Printing 2012-01-21 08:28 Dear Izumi, We were all saddened by Steve’s sudden passing. He was a wonderful man always coming into the shop to do little projects for family or friends. Always knowing the feelings he wanted to convey to the recipient of the gift or the message he was trying to get across. Always with a smile and a good word he would sometimes stop by just to say hello or pass on a little bit of knowledge. He will greatly missed. Quote

#14 Angela Boyer 2012-01-21 09:06 To the Myers Family:
A little poem of comfort by Helen Steiner Rice
We feel so sad when those we love
Are called to live in the home above.
But why should we grieve when they say good bye:
And go to dwell in a cloudless sky?
For they have but gone to prepare the way.
And we'll meet them again some happy day.
For God has told us that nothing can sever
A life he created to live on forever.
So let God's promise soften our sorrow
And give us new strength for a brighter tomorrow.

#16 Jane Batte 2012-01-23 03:18 The Grand Haven High School,Michigan ,Class of 1959 will miss Steve very much. He came to all the reunions with his lovely wife and with pictures of his children. He was so proud of his Children's
achievements.

I was in his classes from 7th grade on and always admired what a good student he was and as a teacher later, I wanted Steve type students in my classes.

We enjoyed the high school cast parties at his home after the school plays.

He will be missed by all of us.

#18 Richaard Muhl 2012-01-26 07:56 Dear Izumi,

The news of Steve's sudden death came as
a heavy shock. From recent e mails I
know how much he was looking forward to his trip to New Zealand.

Steve took me in tow the first night I arrived in Japan and wisked me off to
the local yakatori shop. I knew immediaely that my time at ASIJ would
be rich and varied.

We taught together in the math department
and I appreciated his willingness to
look at and teach a traditional subject in a new and effective way.

My deep sympathies ae with you in your
suddn loss of Steve.

Dick Muhl, ASIJ 1971 - 75

#19 Anne Ludlow 2012-01-26 14:54 My heartfelt sympathy to Steve's family. Steve was my Algebra II/Trig teacher at ASIJ in the 70's; he was uniquely suited to that time & place, & was one of my most memorable teachers. We have lost a true individual, & I will always think of him with great affection. Quote
