John L. Clinton, born in 1948, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, dedication to family and country, and the kindness he showed to both people and animals throughout his life.
John served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a member of the 99th Infantry Brigade, known as “The Red Catchers.” His service reflected the courage and determination that remained with him throughout his life.
Following his military service, John earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from University of Michigan and built a successful career as a Project Manager in the automotive industry. His passion for automobiles extended far beyond his profession. He especially loved his 1967 Chevy Super Nova Sport, which he proudly worked on himself, and enjoyed racing his GTO at Detroit’s legendary MotorCity Dragway.
John embraced an active lifestyle and could often be found rollerblading or biking throughout the Rochester Hills area. He was also dedicated to martial arts and had been training toward earning his second black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Above all, John had a deep love for animals, especially his beloved dog, Sandy, who brought him great companionship and joy over the years.
John is survived by his loving sister, Louise, and his brother-in-law, Rob, along with many friends and loved ones who will miss his humor and determination.
A gathering will take place at Holy Family Church, 24505 Meadowbrook Rd, Novi, MI 48375, on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 10:30 AM until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
