Nancy Loran Wanchik (nee Jackman), age 74, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026. She was born on June 8, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, to Robert and Marion Jackman.
Nancy was truly one of a kind — creative, compassionate, intelligent, and endlessly generous with her time and love. A gifted artist and active member of the Detroit art community, she found joy and inspiration in painting, knitting, gardening, reading, and bird-watching. Her artistic spirit touched countless lives, and she built meaningful friendships throughout the Detroit arts community that she cherished deeply.
Professionally, Nancy was highly accomplished and respected in the healthcare industry. She proudly served as Vice President for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and later as CEO of Medicaid, dedicating her career to leadership and service in healthcare administration. She also attended Central Michigan University, where she studied Business and Healthcare.
Above all, Nancy was devoted to the people she loved. She shared 52 wonderful years of marriage and world travels with her beloved husband, Larry. She was immensely proud of her family, her friendships, and the career she worked so hard to build. Known as a thoughtful listener with a warm heart, Nancy had a remarkable ability to make others feel valued and cared for.
Nancy is survived by her siblings, Linda (Daniel) Alfafara and Daniel (Karen) Jackman; her nieces and nephews, Eric Lucier (Rey Montemayor), Rebecca Jackman, Emily Zuccaro (Steve), and Kaitlin Jackman (Kenny Vorpagel); her great-nieces and great-nephews, Julian Moore, Devon Moore, Alayna Moore, Garner Snead, Olivia Snead, Addyson Jackman, Aiden Jackman, Gracelynn Johnson, Desmond Zuccaro and Stella Zuccaro; her great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Karsyn Moore, Brayden Moore, Bailey Moore and Ja’Vonni Jackson. Her dear friends, Regina Hughes and Kristine Rehling, whose unwavering love and support meant so much to both Nancy and Larry throughout the years; as well as many beloved neighbors, cousins, extended family members, and friends. She also leaves behind her cherished companion, Chyna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Wanchik; her parents, Robert and Marion Jackman; her brother, David Jackman; and her nieces, Beth Moore (Patrick Moore) and Rachel Snead (Garner Snead).
