Cyril James Nymberg, Jr., age 86, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, in Farmington Hills, Michigan. He was born on September 13, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, and lived a life defined by unwavering devotion to his family, hard work, integrity, and craftsmanship.
Cyril was the beloved husband of the late Bonnie Nymberg, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Candis (Kin) Chin, and a cherished member of his extended family. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Joan Holmes; brother-in-law, Dale Holmes; nephews, David Holmes and Tim Holmes; and niece, Charlotte Holmes. In addition to his wife Bonnie, Cyril was preceded in death by many loved ones whose memories he carried close to his heart.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Cyril served his country with honor before embarking on a successful career with AT&T. He furthered his education at Schoolcraft College, reflecting the lifelong curiosity and intelligence that characterized him throughout his years.
Cyril possessed a remarkable talent for creating and building. An intelligent craftsman, he delighted in making things for others and took great pride in every project he undertook. His many hobbies and interests included photography, leatherworking, gardening, stained glass art, wood carving, miniature making, drawing, and camping. He was also an active member of the Indoor Light Gardening Club, where he shared his passion for growing and nurturing plants.
Above all else, Cyril was most proud of his home and family. He was the steadfast foundation upon which his loved ones could always depend—a true Rock of Gibraltar. Protective, patient, logical, quietly strong, and selfless, he lived according to the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and moral character.
Those who knew Cyril will remember his unwavering determination, his tireless work ethic, and his refusal to quit when faced with adversity. His strength was never loud, but it was constant and dependable. Through his actions, he demonstrated what it meant to live with purpose, dignity, and love.
Cyril's legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the countless creations he crafted with his hands, and the example he set through a life well lived. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
