William "Bill" Wheeler Howes Sr., age 98, of Novi, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026. He was born on July 8, 1927, in Flint, Michigan to the late Percy Ogden Howes and Eleanor (Skillen) Howes.
Bill lived a full and devoted life defined by service, family, and quiet accomplishment. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he served his country honorably during World War II. Years later, he was deeply moved to participate in an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., alongside his son—an experience he treasured.
Bill pursued higher education with determination, earning his master's degree from Central Michigan University, an achievement he held with great pride. He went on to dedicate 43 years of his professional life to Ford Motor Company, where he worked in Customer Relations and built a legacy of integrity and commitment.
Beyond his career, Bill embraced life's simple joys. He was happiest on the golf course, carving down snowy slopes while downhill skiing, or out on the water boating and water skiing. He also found great satisfaction in woodworking and traveling, always eager to explore and create.
Above all, Bill's greatest pride was his family. He shared 71 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Nancy, who preceded him in death. Together they built a life centered on love, resilience, and devotion. He was a proud and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, roles he cherished most.
Bill is survived by his children: William Jr. (Beth), Jeffrey (Lorri), and Catherine (Paul) Criger; his grandchildren: Lauren (Adam), Derek, Sean (Natalie), Thomas (Bethanee), Zachary (Kaitlyn), Caitlin, Matthew, and Melissa (Isaac); and his great-grandchildren: AJ, Case, Jackson, Olivia, James, McKenna, Kaia, and Caleb.
In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held. Bill will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan, beside his beloved Nancy.
