Ward Taylor, 78, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024, in Holland, Michigan. Born on February 22, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, Ward lived his life devoted to the love of his family, the laughter of his friends, and the safety of his community.

Ward proudly served the city of Detroit for 27 years as a Sergeant in the Detroit Police Department. His dedicated service was distinguished by his courageousness. Among his many achievements, he received a Departmental Citation and the prestigious Life Saving Award, honoring his exceptional, heroic contributions as an officer.

A graduate of Wayne State University, Ward was a man of intellect and integrity. Outside of work, he was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in fishing, hunting, swimming, and playing with dogs. Ward's vibrant personality made him the life of every gathering - his warm, kindhearted smile complemented his quick wit in lighting up any room.

Ward's greatest pride was his family which began when he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Sandra, on May 21, 1966. He is survived by his devoted wife, their daughter Deborah Peters (Blair), their son Craig Taylor (Jennifer), and their beloved granddaughters Hannah Fahnestock (Joseph) and Kaitlyn Peters. He was predeceased by his son Brian R.

Taylor (1969). Ward's legacy as a funny, loving, and steadfast husband and father will forever be cherished.

To all who knew him, Ward was a beacon of joy and warmth. He will be truly missed but fondly remembered by everyone whose lives he touched.

A Memorial Visitation will be held at O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the Memorial Service begins at 11:00 a.m.

Rest in peace, Ward. Your light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved you.
