After nearly a century, Walter Espy passed peacefully on July 19th, 2024. Born in the Jim crow south of Rome, Georgia, Walter showed resiliency and determination as his family made their way up north to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and ultimately found his way to Detroit, Michigan where he and his wife settled and raised their two children. A World War II Navy Veteran and pillar of strength and endurance, he is reunited with his wife, Eddie Mae Espy, son, Walter Vernon Espy, daughter, Ivey Marie Espy, brother Henry Espy and many other loved ones who passed before him. He is survived by his grandchildren, Walter Espy, his wife and two children, Kevin Espy, his wife and two children, and Dawn Espy, their wife and two children along with his daughter-in-law, Sharon Espy and numerous nieces and nephews who continue to honor his legacy. To commemorate his remarkable life and the memories we cherish, viewing (4-6pm) and service (6pm) will be held at O'Brien-Sullivan funeral home in Novi, MI on Saturday, August 3rd followed by dinner at The HUB Stadium Novi. We welcome all who knew him to join us in celebrating his life.
