Vickie Doss, age 100, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the Angela Hospice Care Center in Livonia, Michigan.
She was born on December 22, 1925 to Clara (Kersten) and Peter Walters in Detroit, Michigan.
Her two beloved husbands, the late Edward Zajac, Sr. and the late Pete Doss preceded her in death. Edward in 1968 after 24 years of marriage and Pete in 2018 after 47 years of marriage. All of her siblings and their spouses: Eleanor (Andy), Janet (Edward), P.J., Cindy (Bill) also preceded her in death, along with her granddaughter, Samantha and grandson, Steven.
Vickie raised three children: Kathleen Shankie (the late Patrick), Edward Zajac, Jr. (Tami), Susan Haar (Jim). Stepdaughters: the late Sandra Ponte and Debbie Fulton.
She was the loving grandmother of: Rebecca (Brandon), Kevin (Nichole), Stephanie (Scott), Jessica (Brian), Jill, Zac (Kim), Michael (Amber), Randall. Great Grandmother of: Emily (Blain), Abbey (Adam), Sarah, Jackson, Bailee, Dom, Joey, Garrett, Emma, Reagan, Anderson, Kailey, Ethan, Corbin. Great-great grandmother of Parker.
Also survived by many dear family and friends.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 19 from 3pm to 8pm at O’Brien Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Ave, Novi, 248-348-1800. Rosary at 7pm.
Funeral Mass on Monday, April 20 at 11am at St. John Neuman Catholic Church, 44800 Warren Ave, Canton. Livestreaming will be provided. Visitation begins at 10:30am with a luncheon to follow the funeral mass in the church hall.
Internment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield at a later date.
Although flowers are appreciated, donations to Angela Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, which were Vickie’s charities of choice.
