As an inspiring woman, Smt. Vimala Devi Voleti played important and diverse roles throughout her lifetime. She can be described in many ways, but words fall short to describe the impact she has left on our lives when she reached the Lotus Feet of the Lord on February 7th, 2025.
On June 10th, 1930, Smt. Vimala Devi Voleti was born to late Smt. Chilakamarri Simhadramma and late Shri Chilakamarri Srinivasa Chary in Rajamundry. During a time where education was not seen as a priority for women, Vimala Devi defied all societal norms and pursued a Double Master's (M.A., M.Ed). Her independence and determination made her such a reputable English and Math teacher as well as a Deputy Inspector of Schools. In difficult times, she supported many students financially and intellectually, who revered her and respectfully placed her on a pedestal.
Her dedication towards her family was exemplary. She lost her father at a very young age. Nonetheless, as the eldest in the family, she bravely took on the responsibility to support her mother while raising, educating, and settling her 3 sisters and 2 brothers. As the sole bread-winner of the house, she paved the path towards success while maintaining a progressive mindset. No decision was made without consulting her, which is a testament to the indomitable spirit she always displayed in every aspect of her life.
She was a devoted wife who supported her husband, late Sri Venkata Narasimha Chary Voleti, through thick and thin. When it came to her children, Vijaya and Ravi, she took any lengths to ensure that they could lead their lives to their fullest potential. More than a mother-in-law, she was a source of strength and support for her son-in-law, Ramesh, and daughter-in-law, Padma.
She unconditionally loved her grandchildren, Sandeep and his wife Sheila as well as Adithi and Praneet. She never stopped encouraging them to pursue their passions and always attended every celebration as a proud grandmother, rain or shine. She innately loved gifting hand-made arts and crafts projects, such as quilts, stitching embroidered dresses, and creating dolls. She even had the blessed opportunity of being a great grandmother to three great grandchildren, Sam, Jay, and Lily. She was always energetic and had a broad smile on her face when they would interact with her.
She shared a special bond with relatives from all over the world and maintained a level of dignity which is admired by all. She was a central point around which all bonds grew stronger and closer, setting a prime example to follow. Her genuine, resilient, down-to-earth, and selfless personality will always be ingrained in our hearts.
We hope her blessings, values, and legacy will carry into future generations of her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by everyone she touched.
We all pray for her Sadgathi. Om Shanti.
With lots of love, Ramesh and Voleti Family
