Truman Allan McLaughlin, age 81, passed away on May 5, 2026, in Novi, Michigan. He was born on July 20, 1944, in Dearborn, Michigan.
Truman lived a full and active life, marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his profession. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years, demonstrating commitment, discipline, and honor throughout his military career. Following his service, he built a successful career in personnel administration and facilities management, becoming one of the first certified facilities managers in Orange County, California.
A firm believer in education, Truman earned a four-year degree in Business Administration.
Truman embraced life with enthusiasm and warmth. He loved staying active and enjoyed hobbies such as golf, basketball, racquetball, handball, softball, and photography. Known for his outgoing personality, he was truly a people person who connected easily with others and left a lasting impression on those he met.
He often shared his personal philosophy with a smile: “Every day is a holiday, every meal is a feast, and if I get paid twice a month, it’s a bonus.”
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; his daughter, Colleen; and his son, Shawn.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde; his mother, Eva; his sister, Beverly; and his brothers Glen, Don, Jerry, Gary, and Norman. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday May 13, 2026, at St James Catholic Church 46325 Ten Mile Rd. Novi, MI 48374 with visitation from 9:30 am until tie of mass. Interment will take place at 1 pm Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Great Lakes National Cemetery 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI 48442. Arrangements entrusted to O’Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home 248-348-1800.
Truman will be remembered for his positivity, his sense of humor, and the genuine kindness he showed to others throughout his life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kirk Gibson Center for Parkinson’s Wellness, honoring his legacy and supporting an important cause.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
