Obituary

Torbjorg Karin Hansen Budenieks, known affectionately as Karin to her family and friends, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, at the age of 90.

Karin was born in Haugesund, Norway, and immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of 11. Over the years, she made her home in Chicago, Illinois; Des Moines, Iowa; and Redford, Michigan, before eventually retiring to Three Rivers, Michigan.

Karin cherished the time she spent with her family and took great joy in creating memories with those she loved. She enjoyed traveling, celebrating Christmas, and listening to music, especially gospel, Norwegian, and polka music. Her Norwegian heritage remained an important part of her life, and she carried with her a deep appreciation for the traditions and music of her homeland.

Karin was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ivars; her son, Ernest; and her sister, Ingrid (Laurits) Tuntland.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Margaret (William) Koepke and Susan (Dennis) Perry; her sister, Kjellfrid (Asbjorn) Eikeland; her grandchildren, Christopher (Dawn) Koepke, Matthew Koepke, Ian (Meghan) Perry, Ryan Perry, Loren (Steven McCarrick) Perry, and Caitlin (Rick) Morrone; and her great-grandchildren, Xander Koepke, Levi Perry, Eleanor Perry, Genevieve Morrone, and Henry Morrone, with another great-grandchild lovingly anticipated.

Karin will be remembered for her love of family, her connection to her Norwegian roots, and the many special moments she shared with those closest to her. She leaves behind a beautiful family legacy that will continue through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 16, from 2:00–8:00 PM at O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Ave., Novi, MI 48374. Visitation will continue Saturday, October 17, from 10:00–11:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by a procession to Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, 43300 W. 12 Mile Rd., Novi, MI 48377, for an 11:30 AM graveside prayer service.
