1927-2009. Went to be with his Lord on July 3, 2009. Born to Thomas and Helen Travers, in East Williston, NY, the youngest of three. Served in the US Merchant Marines from 1944-1946. Joined Marsh and McLennan in 1948, specializing in Marine insurance and worked his way to Vice President prior to retirement in 1992. Married to his first wife, Marianne Sloan Travers from 1955 until her death in 1998. They raised Coleen Travers, Tricia (Alan) Wheatley, Katie (Reynie) Ortiz, Meg Travers, Tom (Tamara) Travers, Erin (Michael) Ferraiuolo, Nancy Ann (1963-1964), Susie Travers, and Richard (Melissa) Travers. He was a man who cherished his faith, which led him to meet and marry Romana ("Moni") Flaherty in 1989, who survives him. They were devoted to one another and she cared for him during his bravely fought illnesses, for which his children will always be grateful. Also survived by five stepchildren, five grandchildren and ten stepgrandchildren, and his sisters Ann and Joan Travers. Visitation at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River, Novi, 248-348-1800, Sunday 4-8 PM. Instate 10 AM Monday until Funeral Mass at 10:30 at St. James Catholic Church, 46325 W.
