Swarup Saha was born on June 14th, 1969 in Calcutta, India to Sova Rani and Naba Kumar Saha.
He has a younger sister Swasati Saha.
Our beloved Swarup arrived in the United States in 1995 after graduating from Calcutta
University with a degree in Physical Therapy.
Shortly after his arrival Swarup established himself as a clinician par excellence, entrepreneur,
social activist, and a philanthropist. Swarup generously supported organizations within his
professional sphere of influence with knowledge and expertise.
Swarup got married to Reshmi in 1998 and they were blessed with their oldest daughter
Swagata (Dona) in 2000 and with their younger daughter Sanjana (Dina) in 2006. He was a
loving husband and excellent father. He was caring son and adoring brother too. He
continuously kept in touch with his parents every single day. He loved to travel and would go to
visit his extended family in India every year with his wife and daughters.
He was very committed to his faith. Every month he would offer prayers at the Flint Hindu
Temple. He also performed monthly pujas at his home with the priest from the Canton Hindu
Temple. He was an avid donor to religious organizations. He even helped run the Kali Temple
alongside a late friend of his. In addition, he helped many other community organizations all
over Southeast Michigan not only with monetary support but also hands on participation. He
was very generous to others with his time, talent and resources. He also participated and
donated to different charities in India.
Swarup had an artistic mind and for years he would create decorations for puja in his
basement. In fact he was currently working on a puja decorations. He loved music especially
sitar.
He loved to make people laugh and made new friends very easily. He was an extremely hard
working and a very compassionate person. He would do anything for those closest to him.
Swarup will be missed by his friends, coworkers and others he had touched. His untimely
passing is a big loss to the community.
May his soul rest in peace and he will always stay in our hearts as the dedicated and
compassionate man he was.
