In Memoriam: Stephen E. Hakola (October 8, 1955 – November 30, 2023)
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Stephen E. Hakola on November 30, 2023. Born on October 8, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Evert and Mae (Kesti) Hakola, Stephen leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and a passion for life.
Stephen was the beloved husband of Michelle (Journeau), sharing 42 years of marriage together. He was a devoted and loving father to Aaron (Melody) Hakola and Krista (Nick Orangio) Hakola. Additionally, Stephen was a dear brother to Stewart Hakola and brother-in-law to Renee (Thomas) Letchworth and Jay Journeau.
A man of many interests, Stephen found joy in playing the guitar and was an avid supporter of all Detroit sports teams and University of Michigan athletics. His enthusiasm for life extended beyond his hobbies to his professional life, where he dedicated years of service to Consumers Energy. Stephen retired as a Supervisor in the Distribution Department, leaving an indelible mark on his colleagues.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation hours from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the O'Brien Sullivan Funeral Home, located at 41555 Grand River Novi, MI 48375 (Phone: 248-348-1800). A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the funeral home.
