Lanning, Stella Marie (nee Wiza) January 8, 2022. Age 98.
Stella was born in Posen, MI on January 19, 1923 to the late Joseph and Anna (nee Klimaszewski) Wiza. Beloved wife of the late Robert. Loving mother of Kathleen (the late Richard) Alfonsi, Patricia (Donald) Wooster and Anita Lanning. Grandmother of Julie (Gino) Silvestri, Mark(Shannon) Alfonsi, William(Kim) Wooster, Michael(Trista) Wooster, Megan Wooster, Matthew Wooster and Collin Kuss. Survived by 8 great-grandsons: Nick, Tony, Vinny, Mario, Sergio, Tino, Owen and Jack. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by all ten of her siblings, Lillian Ross, Esther Ivanka, Helen Meeks, Irene Weide, Arthur Wiza, Gloria Cadreau, Theresa Zott, Dorothy Sherrill, David Wiza and Mary Ann Klimaszewski. Mrs. Lanning was a founding member and parishioner of St. Anselm Catholic Church, past president of the Dearborn Heights Senior Club which met at St. Anselm, and prayed the rosary daily. She was a 25 year devoted employee of Winkelman's store until its closure. Stella's hobbies included being an expert rummy player, crocheted numerous afghans for many family and friends and deer hunting with her brothers. Stella looked forward to the annual family picnic with great excitement where she loved sharing family stories. Stella always wanted to make sure you took food or something with you before you left her home. Visitation will be 2-8 pm Thursday, January 13, 2022 at O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home 41555 Grand River Ave Novi, MI 48375. Funeral Mass 10 am Friday, January 14, 2022 at St. Anselm Catholic Church 17650 Outer Drive W. Dearborn Heights, MI 48127 with visitation 9:30 am until time of mass.
