Shirley Pastir
July 17, 1930 – February 17, 2026
Shirley Pastir, age 95, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026. Born in Detroit on July 17, 1930, Shirley lived a life rooted in faith, family, laughter, and love.
She was the beloved wife of the late Andrew Pastir, with whom she shared 47 devoted years of marriage. Together they built a family that was the center of her world. She was a loving and dedicated mother to Margaret; Mark (Anne); Aliceann (Joseph) Rotondo; and the late Paul (Ellen) Pastir.
Shirley was a proud and cherished grandmother to Chris (Narada), Paul (Alix), Maria (Brandon), Rene (Garrett), Joseph (Shannen), Marc, and Cristina, and a loving great-grandmother to her nine great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. She was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Sarah, and grandson, Lorin. She is also reunited with her dear sister, the late Mary (Henry) Holtschneider.
Shirley was truly one of a kind — spunky, practical, and full of spirit. An avid walker, she especially loved strolling along the beach, finding peace in the rhythm of the water. She was artistic, an enthusiastic reader, and known for her playful practical jokes on her children, always delivered with her unmistakable sense of humor. Her laughter filled every room.
During the Great Depression, Shirley played a meaningful role in helping support her family, working as a child model often noted for her resemblance to Shirley Temple. This special time in her life culminated in signing a contract with Warner Brothers, a rare and remarkable achievement that became part of her lifelong story.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Shirley lived her Catholic beliefs each day with grace and devotion. A faithful churchgoer who loved to sing, she served as a quiet yet powerful example of faith, kindness, and love to all who were blessed to know her.
Visitation will take place at St. Michael Church, 11441 Hubbard, Livonia, on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., celebrated by her nephew, Rev. Dennis Holtschneider. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
