Shirley Mae Kuhn
Born June 22, 1932 Transitioned on September 12, 2016
With sorrow in our hearts to lose her physical presence yet great joy for her to be free of pain, our beloved mother Shirley Mae Kuhn passed away peacefully. She was a loving & devoted wife of 47 years to Robert John Kuhn who passed in 2001. Survived by her only sister Janet Breen Gallant. She was the loving mother of 6 children, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Shirley was a lover of nature and her church. Her great faith in God gave her the t strength to live a full life. She had an adventurous heart and loved to travel: Spain, Hawaii, Bahamas, California, Florida, Alabama, Arizona, Illinois, New York, Maine, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Ohio & Alaska. However, her favorite place of all was the little cottage in the woods in northern Michigan. At any given time, you could find her out on the porch in the woods reading a good book, bird watching-sometimes she would be surrounded by humming birds visiting her feeders or driving the back roads looking for herds of deer. Her entire life she cared for others with grace & patience. You could always count on a warm smile, a loving touch and an offer to help.
With heavy hearts our family pillar is gone, she was Mom to our friends, uplifting to those less fortunate in assisted living, a well-tuned ear to anyone who needed to talk. As her mobility waned it did not stop the fun. We enjoyed many Happy Hours playing cards, celebrating birthdays, celebrating each other and simply laughing & being silly. – Forgiveness & Faith, Love & Laughter- her recipe for a Great Life.
