In Loving Memory of Sharon Ann Sheffer
Sharon Ann Sheffer, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away on February 5, 2024, at the age of 75, succumbing to the challenges posed by brain cancer. She was born on June 7, 1948 to Willard Arthur Sheffer and Hedy Ann Sheffer, both of whom she now joins in eternal rest.
Sharon's legacy is carried on by her loving children, Lindsay Ann Skog and Jon Brian Skog, her brother William Sheffer, sister-in-law Laurie Sheffer, niece Sarah Kluesner, and nephew William Sheffer. She was a source of strength, love, and inspiration to all who were fortunate to be a part of her life.
Sharon's educational journey began at Thurston High School, where she graduated in 1966. Her commitment to learning led her to the University of Michigan, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1971. Later, she pursued a Family Nurse Practitioner Graduate Program at the University of Michigan in 1998, further enriching her knowledge and skills. She was a proud member of the sisterhood of the Chi Omega sorority and Mensa.
With over 30 years dedicated to the field, Sharon made a profound impact through her work in Public Health Nursing and School Nursing. Her passion extended beyond her professional life, as she actively volunteered in school, church, and various children's interests. She played a pivotal role in the inception of LEARN of Michigan, an educational resource for nurses.
Sharon's zest for life was evident in her love for her children, her friends, and her diverse interests. Whether playing the piano, indulging in music, hiking, or exploring the realms of art, she approached life with spontaneity and an enduring sense of adventure. During her high school years, she participated on a foreign exchange program in Austria, showcasing her openness to new experiences.
A devoted pet owner, Sharon adored her Bichon Frise "Patsy" and her current small poodle "Tootsie," who survives her and will surely miss her companionship.
In pursuit of new horizons, Sharon relocated from Michigan to Ft. Myers, FL, and eventually settled in Portland, OR, near her daughter Lindsay. Despite facing the challenges of Huntington's Disease in her later years, Sharon remained courageous and resilient.
