Obituary

In Loving Memory of Shakuntala Harish Chopra (1932 - 2024)
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Shakuntala on April 2, 2024. She was affectionately known as Kunto by her guru Poornanand Ji and cherished by all who knew her.
Born in undivided India in 1932, Shakuntala survived the devastating partition exodus, married her beloved husband, Harish Chandra Chopra, and together they built a loving family in Nagpur, raising her two sons, Arun, and Anil Chopra.
Kunto doted on her family, including her cherished grand-daughter Karishma, and grandsons Vishesh, Ashish, and Neeraj. She adored her daughter-in-law, Sweetie, embracing her as the daughter she never had.
Shakuntala exemplified the power of determination and lifelong learning. She learned English and shorthand to bootstrap a rewarding career as a high-speed stenographer in Nagpur, demonstrating her unwavering work ethic. Even in retirement, she remained an active and vibrant member of the Bhartiya Temple Senior Citizen community, spreading joy and laughter wherever she went.
With an insatiable curiosity and a zest for life, Shakuntala found joy in the simple pleasures - from reading novels and the Bhagwat Gita to whipping up delicious meals and sharing hearty laughs with loved ones. Her infectious spirit uplifted all who had the privilege of knowing her, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.
Though her later years were marked by the challenges of short-term memory loss, Shakuntala faced each day with grace and resilience, inspiring others with her ability to laugh at herself and never losing her zest for life.
As we bid farewell to Shakuntala, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest. Her legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering strength will continue to inspire us all. May her soul rest in eternal peace
