Sarah Jane Modica

Sarah Jane Modica, beloved wife of Samuel Modica for 54 years, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2023, at the age of 77. She was a loving mother, proud grandmother, dear sister, and cherished friend. Sarah will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Born on September 14, 1945 in Washington D.C. Sarah was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Rohrbough) Allen. She grew up in Lincoln Park, alongside her siblings, Mary Fran (David) Whitehurst, Garrett (Annette) Allen, and Kathie (Leo) Seavey. She also had a dear sister-in-law, Rosemary (Leonard) Mistretta. Sarah is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Sarah's family was the center of her life. She was a devoted mother to her children, Amy Modica and Ryan (Sarah) Modica , and a proud grandmother to Dean and Macy. Sarah cherished the time she spent with her family, creating lasting memories and showering them with love.
Throughout her life, Sarah was an active member of St. Kenneth Catholic Church in Plymouth, MI, where she found comfort and spiritual guidance. She was also a long-standing member of Meadowbrook Country Club, where she enjoyed playing golf, one of her passions.
Sarah was known for her vibrant personality and her commitment to staying active and healthy. She was a member of a Parkinson's focused group called The Rock Steady Boxing Program, which exemplified her determination and resilience. Sarah's enthusiasm for life inspired those around her.
Professionally, Sarah attended Trenton High School, and then went on to obtain her Bachelor and Master degrees from Eastern Michigan University in education. Sarah made a significant impact on the lives of many as a teacher and guidance counselor in the Lincoln Park and Romulus school districts. She dedicated many years to shaping the minds and hearts of her students, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness and support.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the memorial visitation, which will be held from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home located at 41555 Grand River Ave. Novi, MI 48375. A scripture service will be Wednesday at 7pm.
A memorial liturgy will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, located at 14951 N. Haggerty Rd. Plymouth, MI, with visitation 10:30 am until time of liturgy. Sarah's final resting place will be at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia, MI.
