Ruth Waldenmayer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and pillar of the community, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 20, 2023, at the age of 89. She was born on December 16, 1933, and adopted by the late Rudolph and Mable Stageberg. Ruth's journey through life was marked by her unwavering devotion to her family, her community, and her faith.
Ruth's love story with her devoted husband, Donald, spanned an incredible 69 years. Their union was a testament to enduring love and companionship that served as an inspiration to all who knew them. Together, they built a life filled with joy, support, and shared experiences.
As a mother, Ruth was a constant source of guidance, compassion, and encouragement to her children. She leaves behind a legacy of four children: Donald Waldenmayer, Jr., Dennis (Dina) Waldenmayer, Susan (Javier)Latorre, and Diane (Brian) Gerard. Ruth's nurturing spirit extended to her role as a grandmother, where she showered her grandchildren—Melissa, Matthew, Anni, Brandon, Sarah, Donny, Lena Rose and Katie—with love and cherished memories. She was also a great-grandmother to Alison, Karson, Alex, and Avery, finding joy in each new generation.
Ruth was a dedicated member of her community in Novi, MI, where she resided since the late 1960's. She served as the president of the Novi school board, demonstrating her commitment to education and the betterment of the lives of young people. Her meticulous attention to detail and strong work ethic led her to work as a bookkeeper at Novi Auto Parts for several years.
Devoted to her faith, Ruth was an active member of the Novi United Methodist Church. Her contributions extended beyond attending services; she taught Sunday school, served on the finance committee and played an essential role in helping to manage the church's accounting needs. Ruth's deep connection to her church community was a reflection of her kind and selfless nature.
Outside her professional and community commitments, Ruth had a passion for sewing, gardening and playing bridge with her bridge group. She also enjoyed playing cards and board games with her grandchildren.
Ruth's life journey began when she met her beloved husband at Kearsley Theater in Flint, MI. Their chance encounter led to a lifelong partnership built on love, respect, and shared dreams.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home 41555 Grand River Ave. Novi, 48375 on Monday, August 28, 2023, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Ruth will be laid to rest at Flint Memorial Park in Mt. Morris, MI, where she will join her loved ones in eternal peace.
