Ronald Sovel, born January 15, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on February 16, 2025 at Angela Hospice - Livonia. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle throughout his life. Ron is survived by his loving children, Mike (Laura), Tom (Jackie), Ken (Erica) his cherished grandchildren, Drew, Ronnie, Ashley, Tyler and Josh, and his brother, James (Donna). Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, in June of 2024 after 60 years of marriage. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ron was a passionate supporter of Michigan State University, where he graduated in 1960. After two years of Army service as a military police sergeant, he was hired into the accounting department at Chevrolet (where he would retire 31 years later). While visiting his father in Mt. Carmel Hospital he met his future wife, Irene (his dad's nurse), whom he married on October 26th, 1963.
Ron cherished family time, especially in Northern Michigan. As a child, his family camped at Interlochen. Later, he enjoyed annual vacations to Houghton Lake with the extended Sovel family in the 70's and 80's. In 1985, he and Irene purchased their home on Secord Lake, where they enjoyed hosting friends and family for nearly 40 years. While his boys were growing, Ron took an active role in coaching baseball teams and supporting their other endeavors.

Gathering of family and friends at the Church of the Holy Family, 24505 Meadowbrook Road, Novi on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM with a memorial mass at 10:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Angela Hospice , in memory of their support for Ron in his final two years of life.
