Robert Van Vleet, age 79, of Novi, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026.
He was born on September 10, 1946, in Tecumseh, Michigan, to the late Glenn and Ruth Van Vleet.
Robert was the devoted husband of Susan and a loving father to Melissa (Michael) Sikina. He was a proud grandfather to Michael Robert Sikina, step-grandfather to Erika (Tyler) Zaborny, and great-grandfather to Luka and Dominick Zaborny, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy. His proudest moment in life was the birth of his daughter, Melissa—a milestone he cherished deeply.
Robert earned his Bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University and went on to receive his Master's degree from Walsh College. He built a long and respected career as a Certified Public Accountant, working at Paul V. Engstrom since 1972. His professionalism, integrity, and commitment to his work earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, Robert served his country with honor and was awarded the Sharpshooter Medal. His military service was a source of quiet pride throughout his life.
Those who knew Robert will remember him as a perfect gentleman—kind, caring, and thoughtful—with a subtle sense of humor that left a lasting impression. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose steady presence and unconditional love will be deeply missed.
In his free time, Robert enjoyed studying history, researching his ancestry, and exploring astronomy. His curiosity and appreciation for both the past and the universe reflected his thoughtful and reflective spirit.
In accordance with his wishes, a private burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
