In Loving Memory of Robert "Bob" Rogers
Robert "Bob" Rogers, age 82, departed this world on January 24, 2024. Born on February 14, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Ray Smothers and Blanche Rogers, Bob's life was a testament to love, family, and dedication.
Bob was the beloved husband of the late Joyce and a loving father to Bob (Stephanie) Rogers and Melissa (Doug) O'Brien. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Heather (Lorn), Krysten (Matt), Justin, and Allison. Bob was also a dear brother to the late Richard Kraatz and Marilyn Mosser, and he is survived by nieces and nephews who will hold his memory close to their hearts.
For three decades, Bob dedicated his professional life to General Motors, leaving an indelible mark on the assembly line and in the Paint Department. His love for the 1957 Chevy was a reflection of his passion for classic automobiles. Bob was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, enthusiastically supporting his team through thick and thin.
Beyond his professional and sporting interests, Bob found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved playing pinochle, spending time tinkering in the garage, and meticulously waxing his beloved cars. However, his greatest source of happiness came from attending his grandchildren's sporting events and school activities, where he cheered them on with pride and enthusiasm.
Upon retirement, Bob continued his commitment to community service by becoming a crossing guard in the Clarenceville School District. For many years, he dedicated himself to ensuring the safety of children on their way to school, finding joy in their smiles and the camaraderie of the school community.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 11 am to 1 pm at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, located at 41555 Grand River Avenue, Novi, MI 48375. A Funeral Service will follow at 1 pm at the funeral home. Bob will be laid to rest at Parkview Memorial Cemetery, Livonia, MI.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to Bob's heart.
As we bid farewell to Bob, let us cherish the memories of his warmth, generosity, and the love he shared with everyone around him. May his soul find eternal peace, and his legacy continue to inspire us all.
