Robert Lee Donnelly, a devoted husband, loving father, and respected member of the community, passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the age of 78. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his family and country. Born on May 18, 1945, Robert was the beloved husband of Carol Ann Donnelly for an incredible 53 years. Their bond was a shining example of devotion and enduring love. Together, they faced life's joys and challenges, creating countless cherished memories along the way. Robert was a loving father to his two children, Jason and Lisa Donnelly. He poured his heart into being a role model, provider, and friend to his children, guiding them with wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love. His devotion to his family knew no bounds, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and happiness. After an impressive career spanning 43 years, Robert retired in 2007 as a Tool and Die Maker. He approached his work with a strong work ethic, precision, and skill. Robert's dedication and expertise earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and peers. Robert proudly served his country as a veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam War. His commitment to duty and honor exemplified his patriotism and love for his country. His selfless service will forever be remembered and appreciated. Family and friends will gather to pay their respects and celebrate Robert's life during the visitation at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, located at 41555 Grand River Avenue, Novi. The visitation will take place on Sunday, June 25, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a scripture reading at 6:00 PM. On Monday, June 26, 2023, Robert will lie in state at Church of the Holy Family, situated at 24505 Meadowbrook Road, Novi, from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral liturgy at 10:30 AM. Following the liturgy, military honors will be accorded to Robert in recognition of his service to his country. The final resting place for Robert will be at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. The interment ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 11:00 AM, where Robert will be laid to rest with dignity and honor.
