Obituary

Rita Mae Brown May 28, 1937 – September 14, 2026

Rita Mae Brown, age 89, of Novi, Michigan, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026. She was born on May 28, 1937, in Exeter Township, Michigan.

Rita was a loving, caring, and compassionate woman whose fun-loving spirit and strong-willed nature made her a memorable presence in the lives of those who knew and loved her. She enjoyed spending her time bowling and playing bingo, always bringing enthusiasm and a little friendly competition to the activities she enjoyed. Rita took particular pride in her bowling and achieved an impressive high score of 200—a accomplishment that reflected both her determination and her love of the game.

Faith was an important part of Rita's life. She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Novi and was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Through her faith and involvement in her community, she formed meaningful connections with those around her.

Of all the things Rita accomplished throughout her life, she was most proud of her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were a tremendous source of love and joy, and the family she built was at the heart of her life.

Rita is survived by her children, Ron (Carol), Donna (Bill), Dave (Earline), and Geralyn; her grandchildren, Michael, Nick (Christine), Frank (Cassandra), Christina (Timothy), Nathan (Amanda), Victoria (Morgan), Emerson, and Devon; and her great-grandchildren, Lucas, Noah, Kayla, Olivia, Giuliana, William, Everleigh, Raylynn, Tanner, Brinley, and Oakley. She is also survived by her siblings, Dan, Leo, Barbara Ann, and Judy.

Rita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald; her parents, Daniel and Geraldine; and her siblings, Bob, Jean, Grace, Fred, Therese, Donny, Mary Lou, Margie, and Greg.

Rita was dearly loved by her family and friends, and her loving heart, compassionate nature, strong spirit, and sense of fun will be deeply missed. The memories she created with those she loved will remain a lasting part of the lives of all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Avenue, Novi, Michigan 48375, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at St. James Catholic Church, 46325 W 10 Mile Rd, Novi, MI 48374.
