Loving father of Richard (Susan Eileen), Deborah, Susan Beth (Stephen), and the late Catherine.
Dear grandfather to Rachel, Rebekah (Eddie), Luke, Jakob, Jessica, Danielle, Vincent Jr., Vanessa, Jack, Emma, Tessa, Anna and Kierra.
Sweet son of the late Frederick and Anita.
Best friend and Brother to Ronald (Suzanne) and Paul (Carolyn).
Richard is also survived by his 4 great grand children and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Richard was a man of God, putting his faith and trust into him. He lived a Christian life and was an active volunteer. He did voice recording of books for the blind, and was part of Meals on Wheels. He was active in Beyond Belief a senior singing group. He and other members would bring song books to nursing and retirement communities and sing, Richard was the MC at these events, giving out information about the songs they would be singing. Up until his illness he was actively playing chair volleyball one a week.
Richard graduated from Princeton University and went on to receive his PhD from Washington University in St. Louis. With his degree he worked for General Motors as a Chemist.
Richard also served his country in the United States Air Force.
A visitation for Richard will take place at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home on Thursday December 15, 2022 from 6pm until 8pm.
A funeral service will take place at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, 17810 Farmington Rd. Livonia, MI 48152, with an instate period at 12pm (noon) until time of service at 1pm.
Richard will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Cemetery.
