Richard Walter Lingle, of Novi, Michigan, passed away, Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Richard was born on August 10, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, and was the son of James P. and Helen C. (Lees) Lingle. His middle name derived from his grandfather; Walter Delisle Lingle. He was a 1958 graduate of St Gregory High School. Richard married Anna Arinea on April 26, 1969 in Detroit, Michigan. He was a graduate of Lawrence Tech University in 1973. Richard worked at General Motors Service Parts Operation (SPO) from 1964 to 2006. He was a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Family since 1976.
He was a jack-of-all-trades handyman, able to tackle any home project or car repair. Richard was at one time an avid golfer, and bowler. He was a car and automobile enthusiast, with an interest toward AMC, and Packard cars; having owned a few interesting cars such as mid-sixties Corvettes and a Triumph TR-6. He had an extensive collection of model cars and was a one time model train collector.
Richard is survived by his; children, David Lingle, and Charlotte Lingle. Many nephews and nieces and their children. He was preceded in death by his wife Anna in 2015; brothers, James Lingle, Robert Lingle, and sister, Lois Powell.
Visitation will be from 3-7 pm Monday, February 2, 2026, at the O'Brien-Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Ave, Novi, MI 48375. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Catholic Church of the Holy Family, 24505 Meadowbrook Rd, Novi, MI 48375, where he will lie in state after 10:00 am. Burial will follow the service at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, 43300 W 12 Mile Rd, Novi, MI 48377. Followed by a luncheon announced at mass.
