RHEA MAE WHITE CAREY
Rhea W. Carey died peacefully on December 11, 2016. Born in Quinwood, West Virginia on October 18, 1924, she was the daughter of Marie O. and Hobart White. She was raised in Washington, DC, and attended George Washington University.
Rhea Carey began her career on Capitol Hill as a Congressional aide where she met her husband. They were married at Nativity Church in D.C. on July 7, 1950. At the time of her marriage she was an aide in the Senate office of the Majority Leader Scott W Lucus.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years John "Jack" Leo Carey who had been a partner in the South Bend, Indiana law firm of Barnes and Thornberg. she is survived by two sons, John L. Carey (Bonnie) of Novi, Michigan and Dan Carey of McComb, Michigan; and a daughter Deborah of Chicago, Illinois.
Rhea And Jack Carey were long-time residents of South Bend, Indiana, Key Largo and Vero Beach, Florida. In recent years she resided at Fox Run retirement community in Novi, Michigan.
A memorial service will be held on January 14, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Morris, Illinois. In lieu of flower, donations may be made in Rhea's name to either the Association for Front Temporal Degeneration or Doctors Without Borders.
