Age 88
Husband of the late Edna. Loving father of Patrick (Janet), John (Susan), Daniel (Sarah), Katherine (David) Feeny, and the late Thomas. Father-in-law of Kimberly (Terry Murphy). Dear grandfather of Marybeth, Sally, Allison, Brendan, Patrick, and Fiona. Most beloved uncle to 47 nieces and nephews. One of 11 children, he is also survived by his sister Patricia Doumit . Born in Lismore, County Waterford, Ireland, he earned his engineering degree at London University. He immigrated to the United States in 1948 and married Edna in 1953. They raised 5 children in northwest Detroit. Ed served as associate Engineer for the City of Detroit under the Cavanaugh administration. He obtained his Master's degree from the University of Detroit in 1978, and served as an associate for the American Arbitration Association from 1982 to 2006. Fluent in several languages, he was a voracious reader and lifelong learner who took particular interest in linguistics, literature, and European history. Scholar and gentleman, Ed was first and foremost a family man, and truly the very soul of kindness, civility, and gentle dignity. His family grieves his loss deeply, while celebrating his rich and inspiring life.
