Obituary for Peter D. Robinson
July 22, 1947 – October 8, 2025

Peter D. Robinson, a devoted husband, accomplished engineer, and passionate aviator, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, in Novi, Michigan, at the age of 78. Born on July 22, 1947, in Cheboygan, Michigan, Pete lived a life guided by quiet strength, gentle kindness, and a deep appreciation for precision and care in all he did.

A graduate of Michigan Technological University and Lawrence Technological University, Pete earned his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. His career spanned over four decades, including 35 years with Detroit Edison (DTE) and an additional five years with ITC after his retirement—where he was recognized with numerous awards and certifications for his expertise and dedication. His work ethic and professionalism were admired by colleagues and peers alike.

Outside of work, Pete's passion truly took flight—literally. As a licensed pilot, he loved spending time in the skies with the plane he proudly owned. He was a longtime member of the FAA Safety Team and carried an AOPA Flying Card. Pete also found joy on the golf course, especially when golfing with his beloved wife, Lorraine. One of his proudest personal moments was achieving a hole-in-one, a memory he treasured alongside celebrating Lorraine's accomplishments in painting.

Pete was also a member of Delta Defense Concealed Carry and supported veteran causes throughout his life. He held deep respect for those who served and chose Wounded Warriors as the beneficiary for memorial donations in his name.

He was a quiet, gentle, and caring man, always precise and organized in everything he did. Whether greeting someone with his signature "Hi Old Timer!" or simply being a steady presence for family and friends, Pete made an impact in ways that words can scarcely capture.

Pete is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine Robinson; his brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Margaret Robinson; his in-laws Tom and Anne Sheppard, Carol and Cliff Sparks, and Jan Wagner; and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Robinson, his sister Sheila Robinson McElrath, and his brother-in-law Tom Wagner.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Pete's memory to the Wounded Warriors Project.

Pete's legacy lives on in the skies he loved to fly, the lives he touched with kindness, and the quiet example of a life well-lived.
