Paula Carter's Obituary

Paula Carter of Walled Lake was born on May 25, 1952, and passed away on August 24, 2022 at Ascension Hospital in Novi after a brief hospital stay. She was the beloved wife of Allan Carter for 34 years, and loving mother of A.J.. She was the dear daughter of Joan and the late Ted, Sr.. Also, dear sister of Jan (Ron), Barbara (Steve), Ted Jr. (Diana), Tom (Kathy), Karen (the late Larry), Doug (Virginia), John (Dana), and Rob (Tracey). Paula was also the loving aunt to 13 nieces and 2 nephews, and a great aunt to 3 nieces and 1 nephew. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Karen (Mike).

Paula graduated from Northville High School in the Class of 1970. After graduating from high school, she attended Schoolcraft College. She first worked at the Huntington Bank in Farmington Hills. From there, she worked as a computer technician for Magna Seats in Farmington Hills, then as a mortgage banker for World Savings in Novi, and Troy. She also worked at Walmart in Commerce Township.

Recently, Paula has had some health issues which necessitated her living her final years at the WellBridge of Novi Nursing home since 2017. While at WellBridge, Paula was a good friend, listener, conversationalist, and puzzle maker with anyone who was hurting and needed someone to talk to. Not only did she make the puzzles, she also took the time to bond them together, so that they could then be framed and given to others as gifts. She did what she could to make the other patients feel better about themselves and their situation. Paula enjoyed being involved in the daily activities at WellBridge involving the residents, particularly the special events during the various Holidays during the year.

Paula was always sincerely interested in the events taking place with all her family members, including nieces and nephews. Paula was especially proud of her son A.J., and always spoke highly of him and his accomplishments. Even though A.J. moved away from Michigan after his college graduation, he was always close to her heart and they spoke every day to "speak words" (as they called it). Paula will be sorely missed by her family but lives on in our memories and traditions.

Paula and her family were members of the Church of the Holy Family in Novi. She was an active member of the adult choir at one time, and volunteered along with her parents and A.J. for many functions held at the Church. A visitation is scheduled at the Church (24505 Meadowbrook Rd, Novi, MI 48375) on Monday August 29th from 10:00 to 12:00, with the funeral Mass beginning at 12:00. Any contributions can be sent to the American Diabetes Association . in Paula's name.
An instate period for Paula will be held at Church of the Holy Family in Novi, Michigan on Monday August 29, 2022 beginning at 10am until time of funeral liturgy at 12pm noon.
