Obituary: Patricia Poirier (1937-2024)
Patricia Poirier, age 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 1, 2024. A beloved Detroit native and a longstanding resident of Novi, Patricia's life was marked by dedication to family, community, and a successful career.
Born on September 1, 1937, to David and Margaret Russell (née Cook), Patricia graduated from Farmington High in 1955. In 1959, she married Peter Poirier, and together they raised four sons. Following her years devoted to nurturing her family, Patricia pursued a Bachelor of Science in Accounting at Madonna College of Livonia. She went on to have a fulfilling and accomplished career at Siemens, retiring as an Executive Purchasing Agent.
Even in retirement, Patricia continued to give back to her community. For decades, she volunteered at Ascension Providence Hospital in Novi, demonstrating her selflessness and compassion. Patricia's commitment to serving others extended beyond her immediate family and into the lives of those in need.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Poirier, and their son, Peter. She is survived by her loving children: Gregory (Deere Maitre), Stephen (Mayuree), and Blaise (Marla). She also leaves behind four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who were a source of joy and pride in her later years.
Her siblings, Joanne and David (Anne), as well as several nieces and nephews, also mourn her passing.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the visitation, which will be held at O'Brien-Sullivan Funeral Home 41555 Grand River on January 26, 2024, between 5 and 8 pm. The funeral services will take place at Holy Family Church 24505 Meadowbrook Novi on January 27, 2024, at 10:30 am.
