Patricia Ann Huber's Obituary

On March 30th, 2025, Patricia Ann Mulcahy Murrin Huber, devoted mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully with her family by her side.

Patricia was born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 17, 1935. She was the seventh and last living of Thomas and Mildred (née Collins) Mulcahy's eight children. Family was the greatest joy and commitment of Patricia's life – from her childhood of family dinners, Knights of Equity outings, and visits to the lake to her final years when she was the first recipient of the Mulcahy Family Member of the Year Award and lovingly served as the matriarch of the extended Mulcahy family.

Patricia was raised in Detroit's Holy Redeemer Parish. She worked as a telephone operator at Michigan Bell (quickly promoted to supervisor) until she and her first husband, John Joseph Murrin, began their family. Patricia and John had four children: Suzanne Murrin (late John Jost), John Murrin (Lisa), Kathleen Frey (Frank), and Maureen Lathrop (Patrick). Patricia was an active parent at Christ the King Parish in Detroit, serving as Brownie Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, Room Mother, and Lunchroom Mother. Patricia's support for her children went far beyond school activities. She hosted the neighborhood children for afternoons in the backyard pool and brought her children to dance and guitar classes at the Brightmoor Community Center.

Patricia also celebrated her Irish Heritage through her 50 plus years in The Daughters of Erin, where she was the past President of Court Six.

After her first husband passed away in 1979, Patricia found joy again with her second husband, Edward Richard Huber, whom she married in 1983. Edward, who had also been widowed, brought four children to the marriage: Christine Huber, Cathleen Forman, Richard Huber (Rachel), and Margaret Criner. Patricia extended her maternal love and care to each of them.

Patricia and Edward had many happy adventures together before Edward's passing in 2019. Patricia traveled abroad for the first time in these years, seeing Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, and England. But their most frequent travels were to Las Vegas and Atlantic City with their friends, Thomas and Katherine Marshall. At home, they loved to host friends and treat them to fast boat rides on Lake Sherwood.

However, nothing matched the pride and joy Patricia and Edward found in sharing life with their children and, especially, their grandchildren.
Mentioning her grandchildren would bring an instant smile to Patricia's Irish eyes: Maddie and Max Forman; Laura Frey; Maggie, Noah and Emma Huber; Jessica and Brian Jost; Erin and John Lathrop; and Sara and Megan Murrin. Patricia was extremely proud of all their accomplishments, from their first steps to their career accomplishments and advanced degrees.

For her grandchildren, and for all of us, Patricia's famous chocolate chip cookies will be an ongoing symbol of the joy she brought to us all through her commitment to family.
