Monica Zak, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023, in Novi at the remarkable age of 94. She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be forever cherished by her family and friends.
Born on May 5, 1929, Monica grew up in a close-knit community, surrounded by family and friends who recognized her kind spirit and gentle nature from an early age. On her life journey, she met her true love, Andrew H. Zak, and together they embarked on a beautiful journey of love and companionship. They were united in marriage for 63 years until Andrew's passing.
Monica's devotion to her family was unparalleled. She was a loving mother to her children, Larry (Joanie) Zak, Barbara (Terry) McMahon, Sharon (Mark) Czarnik, and Ken Zak. Her love and care extended beyond her immediate family, embracing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Monica will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Alissa, Scott (Nicole), Becky (Dave), Greg (Kari), Hilary (Grant), Ross (Kristina), Stephanie (Steve), Jillian (Brent), Vanessa (William), Kurt (Lindsey), Ryan, Kyle, Trevor, and her great-grandchildren: Andrew, Colton, Anna, Brookson, Lucas, Zachary, Leo, Elsie, Reya, Ella, Reagan, Beckett, Miles, Ellie, Katie, Madison, Emma, Rory, Max, Brady, Natalie, Henry, and Evan.
Family and friends will gather to pay their respects during the visitation, which will be held at O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Avenue, Novi on Friday, June 23, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a heartfelt scripture service at 7:00 PM.
On Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the Church of the Holy Family, located at 24505 Meadowbrook Road, Novi, a funeral liturgy will be held in memory of Monica Zak. The in-state period will begin at 10:30 AM and will continue until the time of the funeral liturgy at 11:00 AM. Following the liturgy, Monica will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
