Michael Giustino Kandes

Michael Giustino Kandes, age 82, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Michael was the devoted husband of Joyce Ann Kandes, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. He was the proud father of Geoffrey Michael Kandes (William K. Lawson, Jr.) and Jonathon Ramsey Kandes (Randi M. Kandes), and the adoring grandfather (Papa) of Raiden Michael Kandes and Riley Marie Kandes, who were the joy of his heart. He was the beloved son of the late Michael A. Kandes and Florence Rodrigo, and dear brother of Vicki Lynn Canova (Gino Canova).

A graduate of Central Michigan University, Michael earned his bachelor's degree before embarking on a distinguished 36-year career with Ford Motor Company, where he held several financial positions within Powertrain Casting and Business Planning. Following his retirement from Ford, he enjoyed over 20 years working part-time at Salem Hills Golf Club as a pro shop assistant, where he shared his love of golf with friends and patrons alike.

Michael lived life with energy and enthusiasm. He enjoyed all sports, was an avid golfer, and loved dancing, cruising, and spending time at the family's timeshare in Ft. Myers Beach. In recent years, he discovered a new passion for cooking, delighting his family with his culinary experiments. Above all, he cherished every moment spent with his beloved grandchildren, whose laughter and smiles brought him immense happiness.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home in Novi. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Novi, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the start of Mass.

Michael will be remembered for his warm heart, love of family, and zest for life. His legacy of kindness and devotion will live on in all who knew and loved him.
