Obituary

Michael "Jack" Derrig, 83, went to heaven on Tuesday, May 21st.  Michael was born in New York, New York, and was raised in Tourmakeady, County Mayo, Ireland until the age of 18.
He was married to Mary Ellen Derrig (Rotz) and would have been married 60 years this September 5th.
Michael was a proud Korean War veteran: owner of several small businesses: Irish Imports, and most known The Irish Baker.  He was also the host and creator of the longest live radio show of its type in the country, "Meet The  Irish".
He was a proud UAW member and a retiree from GM after 32 years of employment.  He was an active member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) and proudly served as the Grand Marshall in 2009 Detroit's St. Patrick's Day Parade.
No matter the cause or organization he was always there to provide donations and support to anyone in need.
He was survived by six children: Michael, Stephen, Ellen Marie (Teschendorf) who preceded him to heaven, Gerald, Bridget (Hines) and Patrick along with fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Sunday and Monday 2 - 9 PM at O'Brien Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River in Novi.  Rosary will take place on Monday at 7:00 PM.
In state at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 711 Rickett Rd. in Brighton, Tuesday at 9:30 AM until funeral liturgy at 10:30 AM.
Burial will be at St. Patrick Calvary Cemetery in Brighton.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute.
