With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael "Terry" Clemens on November 3, 2024, at the age of 74. Terry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence brought light, laughter, and kindness to all who knew him.
Terry was born to William M. Clemens, Jr., and Mary Ellen DeGear on April 7, 1950. Growing up with a love for the outdoors and a knack for connecting with people, Terry was always a natural storyteller with a warm smile. In college, he honed his skills in golf, a passion he would carry throughout his life. He became an assistant pro golfer, hitting over a thousand golf balls in a day to perfect his craft, and he later shared his talent and patience by teaching young golfers, a role he cherished.
In 1975, Terry met his beloved wife, Christine, through a computer dating service. Their first date at Mamma Mia's pizza sparked a romance that led to 49 years of love and partnership. Together, they built a life filled with joy, resilience, and unwavering support. Whenever Terry returned from his frequent travels, he would take Christine out for dinner and dancing, keeping their love vibrant. The two shared countless adventures and created beautiful memories with their family.
Terry's career as a top salesman for FlexSteel brought him professional pride and success. Known as a million-dollar salesman, he approached his work with dedication and integrity, providing a secure and happy life for his family. In his free time, he took pleasure in being outdoors, gardening with a meticulous eye for beauty, and spending cherished moments with family, especially during trips to Hilton Head, SC. Hilton Head held a special place in Terry's heart, combining his love for golf, the ocean, and the region's stunning views.
Terry is survived by his beloved wife, Christine; his children, James, Anthony (Lindsay), and Jennifer (Michael); and his adored grandson, Matthew. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Terrence Tobin, and extended family members and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary, his sister M. Patricia Tobin, his brother Michael Clemens, and his favorite aunt, Rose Sunleaf.
Terry's warmth and sense of humor endeared him to everyone he met, whether at his daily stop at the Coney Island counter or at the many gatherings where he shared stories, laughter, and his love of life. He will be remembered for his strength, his generosity, and his passion for his family, friends, and community.
