MARY CATHERINE HARTNETT ULRICH -- 'MARY KAY', age 80, died on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Providence Park Novi Hospital in Novi, Michigan. She was born Mary Catherine Hartnett on August 11, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio, to John Joseph and Mary Sweeney Hartnett. She was a longtime resident of Novi, Michigan at the Fox Run Retirement Community.Mrs. Ulrich attended 4 years of collegeShe retired as a Legal Administrative Assistant with General Motors. Mary Kay was the true matriarch of her family. She loved her children and was completely devoted to her six grandchildren. She had a variety of friends of all ages – she was truly a multi-generational person who could engage anyone in an interesting conversation. Social connection was her true passion - she possessed a sincere gift of friendship. May Kay was also a mentor to many, of many ages and positions in life.No matter how difficult the situation, Mary Kay always found a laugh. She was extremely strong and overcame many difficult obstacles in her life, always handling them with style and grace.Overriding all, Mary Kay was very Irish. She loved anything that was Irish and Irish humor guided her through every day.She was the first resident of Fox Run, known there as The Pioneer. She loved to garden and often held social meetings at her garden. She treasured her music and her television programs. She was a longtime Legal Administrative Assistant at General Motors and for a time served as a secretary at A. J.
