She was the beloved wife of the late Patrick Skaja, with whom she shared nearly 50 years of marriage until his passing in 2018. Together, they raised two daughters, Katie (Patrick) Foss and Amy (Robert) Smith. Mary Ann was the proud grandmother of Dylan Foss, Lauren (Zach) Whitted, Emily Foss, Nylah Smith, and Ben Smith. She was a cherished sister to Patti Sue (Jim) Cassar and was lovingly known as "Aunt Mame" by many of her nieces, nephews, and extended family. Mary Ann was a dedicated educator, having graduated from Mercy High School and U of D Mercy College with a Bachelor's degree. She devoted her life to teaching, winning numerous awards, including Teacher of the Year, and was a guiding light at Agape Christian Academy. To Mary Ann, teaching wasn't just a career; it was her ministry and her life's passion. Even after formal retirement, she continued to inspire and nurture, always finding teachable moments in life.

Mary Ann found joy all around. She loved to seek solitude by the water and was always known to have a good book close at hand. She loved adventure and trying new things. She loved exploring Europe with family and students. Her strong faith was evident in her charitable nature, she was always willing to help and mentor others.
