Mary V. Macura, age 94, of Novi, Michigan, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025. Born on September 17, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan, Mary lived a vibrant and fulfilling life filled with love, laughter, and endless energy.
Mary's passions were as lively as her spirit. She enjoyed cooking, making new friends, and especially tap dancing—a joy she pursued for an incredible 70 years. She proudly performed with the Satin Dolls, a senior tap dancing group that brought smiles to countless audiences. In 1983, Mary earned her Associate's degree from Schoolcraft College, an accomplishment she treasured.
Her proudest moments, however, were those spent with her beloved family. Mary married the love of her life, Joe, and together they spent 69 beautiful years of marriage, and they raised their two children, Sharon and Steven. She is survived by her devoted daughter Sharon; her cherished grandchildren Will, Neal, and Jenny; ten adored great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; one precious great-great-grandchild; and another great-great-grandchild expected soon. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband Joe and her dear son Steven.
Known for her loving, caring, and compassionate nature, Mary touched the lives of everyone she met. She often joked, "It's hard to kill a bad thing," a saying that reflected her humor and indomitable spirit. Her warmth and generosity will be deeply missed by her family and the many friends she made throughout her remarkable life.
Visitation will be held at St. Owen Catholic Church, 6869 Franklin Rd., Bloomfield Hills, MI 48301, on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 10:15 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.
