Mary Joan Walsh James, 85, beloved wife of Robert D. James for 60 years; loving mother of Joanne James Roark, Robert D.(Karole), Susan(Steve) Coombs, Mark(Beth) and Peter (Jamie); proud grandmother of 17 and great grandmother of 11. A lifelong Detroiter, attending the Academy of the Sacred Heart and the University of Detroit, she became a special education teacher while raising five children. She was an avid water aerobics participant for 30 years and has loved the water since her early childhood days in Port Huron. Mary was also a dedicated volunteer at Providence Hospital. Her humor, generosity and energetic spirit were treasured by all.

In state Saturday 10:00pm until time of funeral liturgy at 10:30am at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 Haggerty Rd., Plymouth
