Mary Ellen Jackson, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024, at the age of 95. Born on December 16, 1928, Mary Ellen lived a life filled with kindness, generosity, and laughter, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Mary Ellen is survived by her four loving children: Jim (Catherine), Michael (Deborah), Tom, and Maureen (Robert), who will forever cherish her memory. She also leaves behind her adoring grandchildren: James, Mary Kate, Stephanie, Lydia, Brendan, and Liam, whom she loved dearly.
Preceded in death by her brothers Charles and Jim, as well as her parents Hugh and Susan, and her beloved husband James, Mary Ellen found strength and solace in her family following her husband's passing in 1974. Despite the loss, she chose to devote herself to her children and grandchildren, finding joy and fulfillment in their company.
Mary Ellen's professional journey was marked by dedication and resilience. She began her career as a Ward Secretary at Oakwood Hospital, following clerical classes at Sinai Hospital. Prior to this, she contributed to her country's efforts by working as a civilian for the Army Air Force in the War Assets Administration.
Outside of her professional life, Mary Ellen found pleasure in simple joys. She had a passion for bowling and delighted in evenings spent watching documentaries and classic films. Yet, above all else, her greatest source of happiness was her family. Her grandchildren brought boundless joy to her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
A visitation to honor Mary Ellen's life will take place at Holy Family Catholic Church in Novi on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 9:30 am until the Funeral Mass commences at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Ellen's memory may be made to
