Marlene Ann McClorey, of Novi, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, at the age of 89. She was born on April 18, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, to Joseph and Anna Burghardt.

Marlene was the beloved wife of the late Bernard Patrick McClorey, with whom she shared 35 years of marriage until his passing on November 25, 1995. She was the devoted mother of Kevin (Colleen), Anne (Patrick) McLaughlin, Timothy (Marisa), Mary Kay, and Sean (Suzanne). She was the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren and great-grandmother of 10 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings, Joanna Laina and Joseph (Robin) Burghardt.

A graduate of Cody High School in Detroit, Class of 1955, Marlene continued her education at Marygrove College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Therapy in 1959. She worked for several years as a public-school teacher serving the needs of inner-city children in Detroit.

Marlene was a loving, selfless, and generous woman whose greatest calling was being a devoted wife and mother. Her greatest source of pride was her family. She devoted her life to raising, nurturing, and supporting her five children and their families. She was happiest surrounded by the people she loved, especially when she could dote on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cheer them on in all their endeavors.

Marlene had a wonderful zest for life. One of her fondest memories was being a member of the Ford Chorus with her two beloved cousins Margie (Cole) and Louise (McPhee). She and Bernie enjoyed many adventures together, especially boating on the Great Lakes and making a new home for their well-deserved retirement in Siesta Key, Florida. After Bernie’s passing, Marlene carried on the tradition of hosting her large family every year for Easter in Florida. Faith, Family and Fun were just a few of her favorite things!

Those who knew Marlene will remember not only her generosity, but also her humor and warmth. Marlene was an eternal optimist because she had unshakeable faith in God. Marlene's legacy will live on through the family she cherished so deeply and the countless lives she touched with her love and laughter. Her family was, and always will be, her greatest triumph.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at O’Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Avenue, Novi, Michigan.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, with in-state at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23815 Power Road, Farmington, Michigan. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan.
