Marion E. Marten, age 96, of Northville, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2024. She was born on May 10, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Frances (Bychowski) and Werner Giebel. Marion was the beloved wife of the late Robert Marten for 70 years until his passing in 2017. She was the loving mother of Christina Austin and the late Cynthia Lankston. Marion was cherished as "Meme" to Kimberly (Gene Simon) Austin and Nicole Austin. She was the dear sister of Pete (late Barb) Giebel and is also survived by nephews and their families. She was a cherished friend for too many to list.
Marion was a dedicated entrepreneur who owned and operated a flower and gift shop. Her passion for floristry extended into her personal life, where she enjoyed making arrangements, gardening, and instilled a love for flowers in all who knew her. Marion was known for her warm smile and radiant personality, which touched the lives of everyone she met.
In addition to her professional pursuits, Marion was a home maker as well as an active volunteer at the Novi Public Library for over 25 years. She was a devout member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and enjoyed golfing and cherished moments during "Happy hour." Marion's caring nature and positive spirit have left an indelible mark on her community and beyond.
A Funeral Mass to honor Marion's life will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Dr., Northville, Michigan. Visitation will precede the Mass, beginning at 10:30 am. Marion will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of donations, Marion expressed her desire for those wishing to honor her memory to send a flower or plant, symbolizing her lifelong love for floristry and gardening.
Marion E. Marten's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to her family and community will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
