Marilyn graduated from T.L. Handy High School in Bay City and worked briefly at Dow Chemical in Midland before heading to California. She traveled to California with a girlfriend where she enjoyed working and site seeing before heading back to Michigan to attend Wayne State University. After graduating from Wayne State, Marilyn worked for Wayne County, before landing a job at Oakland County as a social worker. She found great joy working in foster care and adoptions. She was often asked by the children if she would adopt them. We found many pictures and letters from the numerous families Marilyn worked with over the years. Marilyn retired after 35 years.
Marilyn also was a master gardener. She loved flowers and took great pride in her beautiful gardens around her home in Lake Orion. She had numerous trees and bushes that bloomed throughout the Spring and Summer seasons. She also took part in a garden club, where she enjoyed working in the gardens at Meadow Brook Hall. Marilyn loved her home in Lake Orion where she resided for 50 years
Marilyn was very fond of dogs, and had many throughout her years. Her last dog was a beautiful white bouvier named Mugs.
