Marie Josephine "Josie" Oliver, aged 102, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her devoted family on Friday, September 25, 2026.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, on August 26, 1924, Josie grew up in a vibrant home as the daughter of Francesco and Antonia Sinacola. She graduated from high school in 1942 and went on to business school, where she mastered Comptometry. As the United States entered World War II, Josie’s skills led to her recruitment at Briggs (Chrysler). She spent 11 dedicated years there, eventually serving as a respected group leader over a team of ten women, demonstrating leadership, skill, and work ethic during a historic era.

Josie loved to bake, sew, cook, garden, and follow sports, but above all else, she loved being with her family, whom she raised with a deep and enduring faith in God. Putting her family first was the defining devotion of her life. Together with her beloved husband, Dave, she raised five children, pouring her tireless energy into cooking, cleaning, shopping, and ensuring every member of her family was safe, healthy, and emotionally cherished. Her home was always open, and she always saved a warm place in her heart for her children’s friends, treating them like family. She infused love into everything she touched, encouraging all around her to become their best selves.

Josie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Dave; her parents, Francesco and Antonia Sinacola; her brothers, Frank and Joe; and her sisters, Connie and Louise.

She is survived by her five children, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her endless pride and joy:

• Connie Tindall (daughter) and her husband Michael; their children Anthony (Katie) and Sarah; and great-grandson, Henry Tindall.
• Michael Oliver (son) and his wife Mee-Sook.
• Sharon Sower (daughter) and her husband Bill; their children Erin, David, and Andrea; and great-grandchildren, Elias, Bo Adele, Sebastian, and Javier.
• Carol Oliver (daughter).
• Lisa Verhelle (daughter) and her husband Kevin; their children Joey, and Nicholas (Cass); and grandchild, "Baby V" (Nicholas and Cass, due in May 2027).

A Celebration of Living Love

To have known Josie was to know what it means to experience "Living Love" in every moment. Her 102 years were a masterclass in kindness, generosity and grace. She was a gift to every life she touched, and her presence was a steady beacon of warmth and light for generations.

As we celebrate her life, we do so with deep peace, acceptance, and profound gratitude for the countless memories, lessons, and unconditional love she bestowed upon us. While her physical journey has concluded, her spirit, energy, and radiant light continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
