Lucille Frances Marie Hennessey (nee Carlin)

Marie was born on August 24, 1934, in Cochrane, Ontario to Eugene and Laurence Carlin. She was their first born. A couple of years later, her brother was born and the two of them spent much of their childhood in Montreal and other parts of Quebec. Marie moved to the U.S. with her then husband and started a family, first in Flint and then in Detroit and Beverly Hills, Michigan in 1959.

Marie was a resident of Novi, Michigan for the past 25 years. On September 20, Marie died at the age of 87. She lived a full life to the very end and is survived by her five children: John (Diane) Hennessey, Joann Hennessey, Patricia (Stephen) Hayes, Michael (Jennifer Kirk) Hennessey, and Brian (Aloisia Moser) Hennessey. Marie loved her children and was blessed with eleven grandchildren Sean, Noel, Patrick, Joey, Ryan, Kevin, Alex, Collin, Jack, Francine, and Alan and four great grandchildren Flynn, Jack, Hazel, and Bernie. Marie predeceases her sister-in-law, Maryan Carlin, brother-in-law, Jack Hennessey, and her many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Francois Eugene Carlin, mother Laurence Marie Carlin, brother Joseph Patrick Eugene Carlin, former husband and father of her children Alan Hennessey, sisters-in-law Joanie Hennessey and Marka Hennessey, brother-in-law Brian Hennessey, niece Maureen Hennessey, and nephew Brian Hennessey, Jr..

During her more active years, Marie enjoyed golf, tennis, skiing, and travel. Marie famously traveled cross country with five children in tow on multiple occasions. After her children had grown, she traveled with NOMADs across the country and across the world. She had an adventuresome spirit. She continued downhill skiing until she was 78 years old. Marie enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels until she was 81 years old. In more recent years, Marie was forced to slow down but kept active with Bridge, dinner with friends, and attending family events.

The family has entrusted care and services to O'Brien-Sullivan Funeral Home located at 41555 Grand River Ave, Novi, Michigan 48375. A wake will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.

On Saturday, September 25, 2021, funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Parish located at 23815 Power Road, Farmington, Michigan 48336 starting at 10:00am. Instate begins at 9:30am at the church. Following the service, friends and family can meet at the gates of the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery located at 25800 W. 10 Mile Road, Southfield, Oakland County, Michigan, 48033 for the interment.
