Obituary

Marguerite (Peggy) Riggert, March 15, 2009 at her residence at Waltonwood in Novi. She was born May 28, 1913 in Youngstown Ohio.

She worked as a secretary in Buffalo, NY and at General Electric in Cleveland. She worked at Nela Park where she met her husband, Marvin, whom she married in 1940. They moved to Washington D.C. where Marvin served in the Army.

At the end of the war the family moved to Niles, Ohio as Marvin returned to work with General Electric. Peggy became a community leader, active in volunteer work, teaching flower arranging, helping in the elementary school and playing bridge and the Beye family favorite, pinochle. The family spent many years in Cleveland Ohio.

Peggy's other special talent was in tinting the black and white pictures that her husband took and developed to make them color photos. Her compassion for animals brought numerous small dogs into the family and even an occasional squirrel because they were fed from her hands. She moved to Waltonwood Assisted Living Facility in Novi Michigan in 2002 and fed and raised three sets of Mallards in the courtyard until 2004 when she moved to the Memory Care Unit.

She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin Riggert, and her sister Dorothy Davis. She is survived by her brother Howard Beye (Dorothy), her daughter, Marlene Fluharty, her sons, Howard (Sharon) and Robert (Susan), seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, a nephew, three nieces and their families.

Donations may be made to Angela Hospice, Development Office, 14100 Newburgh Road, Livonia, Michigan 48154 or the American Cancer Society.
