Margery F. Holland
August 29th, 1928 – March 16, 2022
Loving daughter of the late Paul and Josephine (Whelan) Holland of Detroit.
Sweet sister of the late Robert M. Holland.
Beloved aunt of Patricia (Anthony) Soma.
Margery is also survived by cousins, many dear friends, neighbors and others. She also will be remembered by those that benefited from her quiet philanthropy.
Margery is a lifelong member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Detroit where she took all her sacraments. She is also a lifelong Detroiter who loved and supported her City itself, as well at the Tigers, and the Lions. She was a big Matt Stafford fan and was able to see him win a Super Bowl. Margery is especially proud of her Irish roots.
In her teen years she was a Nationally ranked ice skater. She trained and competed mostly in Michigan and Ontario. Margery is a retired Detroit Public School teacher of 43 years.
A graduate of Redford High School in Detroit, Margery went on to obtain Bachelor and Masters Degrees from Wayne State University. During college, she worked summers for the City of Detroit Parks and Recreation Department teaching crafts in Summer Camp. In addition, she enjoyed vacation time in Big Rapids with her Grandparents.
A visitation for Margery will take place on Tuesday March 22nd beginning at 3:00pm until 8:00pm at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home.
A funeral liturgy for Margery will be held at Christ the King Church on Wednesday March 23 with an instate period starting at 9:30am until time of liturgy at 10am.
